Spring & Cable Repair
If your springs or cables are damaged or broken, your garage door either doesn’t work or is about to stop working. Be careful, broken springs and cables can even be dangerous. Spring repairs tend to be one of the more crucial garage door repairs, because of how important the spring is to the overall system. Repairing your spring improperly can damage your garage door and can be dangerous to people, property, and pets.
If you think there’s a problem with your springs or your cables, call Metro and we’ll send one of Metro’s IDEA certified experts ASAP. If we’re called fast enough, it’s possible we’ll be able to fix the problem without replacing the whole opener.

Section Repair & Replacement
If only a part of your garage door was damaged or has become worn and you don’t want to replace the whole door just yet, don’t worry. Metro Garage Door offers section replacement.
Our technicians will carefully measure and weigh your door and then help you pick out a section that will work with the rest of the garage. We can find and work with your original door’s manufacturer to find a replacement section that coordinates well with your current door.
If you’re not sure whether or not you should have a section replaced, schedule a consultation and we’ll give you our opinion and lay out your options.
Opener Repair
A stylish garage door looks great, but they’re even better when they’re functional. Metro Garage Door provides chain, belt, and jackshaft openers for every conceivable type and style of door. We can do the pesky job of installing the same day we deliver, so all you have to do is enjoy your new, fully-functioning door.
Many of our garage door openers come with useful new features like wifi sensor compatibility, an app that lets you access and control your opener from your phone, and battery backup. Ask your expert installer about your options when you call or when you’re having your opener put in.
Common Garage Door Repairs
Since we opened in 1978, Metro Garage Door has seen and repaired just about every kind of garage door problem you could imagine (and some you probably can’t!). If you think something is wrong with your door or opener, chances are the culprit is in this list. The good news is, we’ve made these repairs so many times that we’re very good at them. Give us a call and our experts will come to your home and fix your problem in no time.
Broken Spring
The big one. A garage door’s spring is usually rated for between 10 and 20,000 openings before it wears out, but sometimes they won’t last that long. The spring does all the heavy lifting which actually lifts the garage door. When a spring breaks, the garage door will stop working. The cable will be put under strain, as well. Do NOT try to open your garage door if your spring is broken; this is dangerous and could harm your garage door.
Broken Cable
This usually follows a broken spring, but it can also happen on its own. We can generally repair broken cables without having to replace the whole opener.
Door Won’t Close or Open Completely
Sometimes the belt or chain that moves the trolley along the rail will get stuck, causing the door to stop halfway up or down.
Track Realignment
The tracks that the wheels of the door run along may get dented or rust over time.
Motor Issue
The motor housed inside the opener itself may break down.
Rewiring
If the wall button, lights, or remote stop working, the electrical wiring may need to be redone.
Electrical Short
Sometimes, the problem with electrical components is a simple short. This is more common than a total rewiring.
Transmitter or Receiver Problem
The transmitter and receiver in your remote or opener can get desynchronized. The batteries in your opener may also be dead, or the transmitter’s signal may be getting scrambled by nearby electronics.
Sensor Realignment
If your garage door won’t close and there isn’t anything under it, it’s usually because your safety sensors have are unaligned or blocked.
Limit Setting
When your door keeps going back up after you try to close it, it’s usually because the limit setting has made it too sensitive.
Metro Garage Door can and has fixed all of these problems without replacing the entire garage door or opener. If replacement does happen to be necessary, all work and products provided by Metro are covered by brand-based warranty.

Troubleshooting Tips
1. My garage door won’t open and my remote and wall button are working.
Make sure your garage door isn’t locked. Many garage doors have manual locking systems.
Your torsion springs, which do most of the work raising the garage door, could be damaged or broken.
There could be a wiring problem preventing your wall button’s command from getting to the unit.
2. My garage door runs unevenly.
Make sure there aren’t any obstructions on the roller track.
Your spring could be damaged.
3. When I try to use it my garage door makes a grinding noise and will not rise.
Make sure there aren’t any obstructions on the roller track.
The main drive gear may have stopped functioning. This component can be replaced without replacing the whole opener.
4. My garage door goes up but won’t close again.
Your safety sensors could be sensing something under the garage door, or they could be misaligned.
Make sure there’s nothing under the garage door, then check the light on the side of the sensors. If it’s orange, they could be misaligned.
5. My garage door makes more noise than it should.
The loud noise could be coming from a loose component rattling.
Have the hinges, roller track, and springs lubricated.
Your rollers could be worn down.
6. When I try to close my garage door, it goes back up right away.
Your opener’s limit switch is probably incorrectly set. This can be reset in the main housing mechanism.
Check your safety sensors for obstruction or malfunction.

What People Are Saying About Metro Garage Doors
I had a new garage door installed. My initial garage door had a weird problem -- it opened by itself! Our technician came out and was just fantastic. He replaced the opener (the maker of the opener, for instance, tried to send me a part that I could replace on a week-old opener). They fully replaced the opener and the wire and it works great. And Randy was exceedingly professional and helped me understand everything. Great service.
